This is the House my ancester built. I saw it in the '80s. You have made many improvements to it since that time.It is really beautiful. I have never been inside the home. Is it as beautiful in the inside as the outside?
Thank you. The updated/modernized kitchen and bathrooms are the only changes to the interior. The house still retains much of the original character and charm. The most outstanding features, to us, are the beautiful stone fireplaces. We will have to post those pictures in the near future. TheMatthias HarvyeHouse is a 300+ year old private residential enclave. To retain the historic intrigue that only generations of living past can provide, we've created this blog as a way to open the property without infringement on our privacy. The main home and outbuildings date to 1709. To put time into perspective, the Battle of Trenton where General Washington led his troops across the icy Delaware River took place on December 26, 1776. The solidity of these stone structures have withstood two centuries of progress. We ushered in a third century in 2009.
